Creepy Coffee Shops

Portland is known for its quirky culture and unique coffee scene, but some spots add a darker twist to the usual caffeine fix. They come with eerie backstories and chilling atmospheres that make every visit unforgettable.

Sinister Coffee and Creamery comes from a genuine love of the paranormal, passion for coffee and a history of delighting and terrifying their guests.

What started as a food cart has evolved into an immersive retail location at 301 SW Morrison St in Downtown Portland.

Memento Mori Cafe takes its name from the Latin phrase meaning “remember you must die.” This coffee shop embraces the macabre with a tasteful, artistic approach. The interior features skull motifs, antique clocks stopped at midnight, and walls covered in dark, moody paintings. It’s a place that invites reflection on life and death while you enjoy your cup of coffee.

The cafe’s origin story is tied to a local historian who wanted to create a space that honors the fleeting nature of life. The building itself was once a mortuary, and some say the atmosphere still carries the weight of its past. The owner collects old funeral artifacts and displays them as part of the decor, giving the cafe a museum-like feel.

One of the most popular drinks is the “Last Breath Espresso,” a strong, smoky blend that matches the cafe’s theme. Memento Mori also hosts art shows and poetry readings focused on themes of mortality and the supernatural, making it a hub for Portland’s creative and thoughtful crowd.

Conspirators Coffee lives up to its name by creating an atmosphere thick with mystery and intrigue. The decor features vintage typewriters, old newspaper clippings about unsolved mysteries, and walls covered in cryptic symbols. It’s a favorite spot for conspiracy theorists, mystery lovers, and anyone who enjoys a good puzzle with their coffee.

The story behind Conspirators Coffee is as intriguing as its clientele. The founders are a group of friends who bonded over their love of unsolved mysteries and secret societies. They wanted to build a space where people could gather, share theories, and enjoy coffee that fuels deep conversations.

The shop’s signature drink, “The Illuminati Latte,” is a rich blend with hints of spice and dark chocolate. The menu also features “The Blackout Brew,” a strong cold brew served in a black matte cup. Conspirators Coffee regularly hosts trivia nights and discussion groups focused on everything from government secrets to paranormal phenomena.

Rimsky-Korsakoffee House is one of Portland’s quintessentially weird and wonderful landmarks. Tucked inside a 1902 Craftsman house in Buckman, this candlelit coffee-and-dessert parlor has been serving late-night sweets since 1980. The reportedly haunted house is filled with composer-themed tables—some of which mysteriously move on their own—along with eclectic décor, live classical music, and famously quirky bathrooms.

Come for the Mocha Fudge Cake or Berries Godunov, stay for the ghosts and general weirdness.

Initial facial piercings are usually performed using thicker wire to encourage stable healing and clean channel formation. Staying with a standard nose ring gauge like eighteen or twenty gauge protects against cheese-cutter effect or tearing.
