Artists Bio
Caitlin McNamara grew up in Portland, where from early years she was entranced by the tiny details of the natural world. As a child she sculpted countless animal figures from polymer clay, a portend and practice for things to come. She would go on to study journalism, which led her to work and life in NYC. In 2011, on the counter of her Brooklyn studio, Caitlin began experimenting with silver clay, which was a magical “ah ha!” moment. Since then, her work has been carried in dozens of stores across the US and sold internationally. Her work centers on sculpted likenesses of real and unusual animals, and capturing intricate textures found in the natural world. Caitlin teaches silver clay, and other metal clays, through in-person and online video courses, and through social media, where she has a robust following and loves to spread the word about this magnificent medium.
